It the time of year when every store starts having their Christmas open house. This last weekend we went to the open house at The 13th Colony. It is a great store on the south end of Minocqua with so many old fashioned Christmas decorations. It is a really fun place to shop. And a fun way to welcome us there:

Today was Winter Park Day in Minocqua. Winter Park is the beautiful cross country ski center just 5 miles from us. A very generous man by the name of Ken Aldridge just purchased 5 square miles of land that he is putting in a conservancy to preserve the winter park ski trails. So today they honored him and provided music and food, hayrides and games for everyone to enjoy the wonderful facility Minocqua has. It was a beautiful day and many people came out to enjoy the park! Thank you Ken!

Today was a beautiful fall day, sunny, crisp and colorful. And most fun of all the 46th Beef-a-rama fall celebration! They estimated 5,000 people in town today for all the fun.

The best thing about having a resort is seeing your family and friends. My two brothers came up this spring to spend a week with us and we had a great time together. Here are Dean and Dale with Dick at Musky Shores enjoying some time together. Thanks guys for a great time together!

We have a new business in town called BAD BONES BBQ! They cook outside in a wood cooker and serve pulled pork sandwiches either inside or outside on picnic tables. We tried it for the first time after one of our customers raved about it. They were right it is delicious! It is down town Minocqua, one block west of Pole Cat & Lace. The smells outside make you want to stop and it is worth it!

One of the families staying here at the resort visited The Northwoods Wildlife Center last week. They were told that they had 5 small bears and they were running out of food for them. So when they came back their daughter Kyrea asked me if she could catch some small fish and take into the Wildlife center for the bears. So the next day all the kids were busy catching fish until they almost filled a bucket and took them in. Here is a picture of the kids, Sierra, Teagan, Dad Brad, Kyrea and Mazzie at the Wildlife Center with 150 fish, Kyrea and a volunteer at the Center and one of the bears swimming. The bears are in a back area and you can only see them by camera in the Center. Great job Kids!!!!!

Here is a peak look at the new Minocqua Park that is on the grounds of the old Circle M Corral. It is turning out just beautiful with 3 little league ball diamonds, 2 soccer/football fields, 2 sand volleyball and a beautiful pavillion and festival grounds. We hope to have events going on there every weekend!!!

What do you do on a hot hot day? Play on the lake or go cardmaking! That is what our good customer and friend Cathy and I did today. We took a 12 card class at The Paper Studio, stayed cool, had lots of fun and ended up with 12 cards!!! And then we had lunch at a favorite spot Polecat and Lace. My favorite way to spend a hot day!!!!

After dinner at one of our favorite places, Moose Jaw Resort the kids all played a fun game of miniature Golf. Here are some pictures of our grandchildren Kate, Andrew and Colton having fun!!!

A couple of our customers, a couple of my neighbors and I enjoyed our neighborhood churches’ Salad Luncheon this past week. There were so many good salads and desserts that we could have filled a plate twice. It is always a delicious time!
