Canadian Geese, Mallard Ducks, Loons and a Blue Heron

The other day I was attracted to the lake by the call of the Canadian geese so I sat on the far left pier for a while and watched 4 different birds all swimming in the same bay.  Four Canadian Geese, two Mallard Ducks, 2 Loons – swimming very low in the water as they approached the 4th – a Blue Heron. It was amazing watching the interaction of all these different birds in one bay. And here are some awesome pictures so you can enjoy too:

Red Headed Woodpecker

As I said earlier the fun of spring is all the unusual birds we see and last week we saw a red headed woodpecker at the feeder which is very rare to see in Wisconsin. It is different than the downy woodpeckers we see all summer.

Rare to see in Wisconsin!

A Great Dinner!

This Eagle was enjoying a great dinner on the side of the road tonight. The ground to the left of him is the shoulder, that is how close to hwy 70 he was. Shortly after the cars scared him away but I am sure he will be back to finish off the poor dear. How I love seeing the Eagles everywhere!

What a great dinner!

More on the Eagles

A friend sent me an email about the Eagles that we are watching with a story that I missed seeing yesterday about one of the Eaglets almost being thrown out of the nest. Read the whole story here:

Eagles!

I want to share a very exciting website that I have been watching over the weekend. It is http://www.raptorresource.org If you click on Nest Cams you will see a camera focused on an Eagles nest that contained 3 eggs. over the weekend so far 2 eggs have hatched with one to go. I have seen the Eagle feeding the babies just minutes after it was born, it is awesome. If you haven’t seen it or heard of it yet take some time to watch something up close that you have probably never seen and enjoy!

Sharing a Meal!

We watch the bird feeder all the time and every time the birds are there they scatter fast when the squirrels come around. Well, this squirrel came so slow and quiet that the bird never stopped eating, it was rare to see them both eating peacefully together!

Buddy's??
