Strawberrys Anyone?

It has been a tradition for a couple years now for Maggie and Dick to go strawberry picking at the fields on Hwy 70. This year the first week of picking was the first week Maggie was here so they filled a box pretty quick.  And guess who had to clean them all?? But they were so sweet and good, everyone enjoyed them!

Turkeys!!!

One of our good customers that reads our blogs every day emailed us these pictures of the turkeys he shot this year turkey hunting.  One was 24 lbs. and the other 25lbs. They were such nice big birds I decided to make Virgil and his turkeys the star of the blog today.  Way to go Virgil!!!

Abe Clark

While my granddaughter was visiting she told me about a very interesting person I would like to share with you.  Her teacher (who used to teach in Minocqua!) has a daughter Katie who is engaged to Abe Clark. Abe is running across America to raise money to provide clean water to Haiti. My granddaughter Kate shared his website with me. I looked at it and was so fascinated with his journey and purpose that I wanted to share it with all of you. He started at the Pacific Ocean and you can follow his trail all the way to the Atlantic Ocean.  He has a cart he  pushes along the way that he named Ruby.  If you read his blog you will find out why it’s named Ruby.  His blog is so interesting I hope you all have time to look at the website and enjoy his journey through his blog. The picture was taken from his website which is www.runningwater.cc. You can click on it and go to the website. I hope you enjoy his story as much as I did.

I’ll wait to go fishing then!

This last summer I posted some pictures of Jim and Ellen during the week they were here. Well Jim sent me an email tonight that really touched my heart.  Here is what he said and the picture: ” I asked Ellen this morning if she wanted to go fishing for brown trout and carp in the Milwaukee Harbor today and she said she wanted to go to Booth Lake ( Where we go in the summer).  I told her that Booth Lake was still frozen and she replied, ” I’ll wait to go fishing then!”

Goodbye Jay!

A good friend & customer Jay Armstrong suddenly passed away on Wed. at only 47 years old.  Jay, Debbie, Max & Ellie Armstrong  have been coming to Booth Lake Landing for many many years. They have met and made friends with many of our customers.  I remember two weeks before the 2nd year  Debbie calling me to tell me Jay had had a heart attack. She was so concerned about losing their week at Booth Lake Landing that she wanted to know if Jay’s brother could have the week that year so it would be saved for them the next year.  Well that next year turned into more than 10 more years. Years of fun and laughter, canoes rides, pot luck dinners, boating , campfires and banana boats!  So many wonderful memories.  We will never forget Jay’s smile, and sense of fun that was always around him.  Please remember Debbie, Max & Ellie in your prayers as we all say goodbye to Jay on Monday.

The Otters

This is another picture from the week in Aug. that Dan & Jeanne  – Eric & Tina were here. These otters swim by every night and have been known to steal minnows on occasion.  Since not everyone sees them I thought you would enjoy the picture.

Another Great Resturant in Minocqua!

Another great place to eat in Minocqua is Norwood Pines. They have good food all the time but their Friday Fish Fry is one of the best. But everyone has to try a Booth Lake Landing Brandy Alexander while they are there. They are the best!

A Fun Place to Eat

Lakeside Landing is a real fun place to eat while watching all the boat traffic on Lake Tomahawk.  They have a great walleye sandwich and other good things too. Dan & Jeanne, Eric & Tina went there more than once during their week stay.

Wine!

While Eric & Tina and Dan & Jeanne were here last Aug. they took a trip to the 3 Lakes Winery. The had a  great tour of the winery but the best part was the wine tasting. And of course they brought some back with them. They enjoyed the whole day very much.
