Socks for Sue

I shared the story of the sock machine last year but it so interesting I wanted to share it again this year. My “sock” lady came back again this winter brought along 2 sock machines and keep busy with the snow, a fire going and her machines. And I was lucky enough to receive a pair of wool socks which keep me oh so warm!

The story goes these machines were sold by traveling salesmen to farm wives with written instructions and the offer to buy any socks made to give to the soldiers in WWI.The instructions were hard to follow so many machines were packed away in the attic to be found and shared many many years later. The machine with it’s wires, gears, needles and weights was fascinating to watch. Thank you so much Ingrid for sharing not only your wonderful past time but a pair of wonderful socks.
